Anderson Elementary Celebrates Veteran's Day

November 11, 2009 - Students were asked to bring photos of Veteran and active military family members and friends to honor them on the Anderson Elementary "Thank you for your service to our country" Wall. Students and faculty wore red, white and blue in honor of veterans on this day and performed the morning announcements outside by the flag pole. Veterans and current military personnel were also honored as Anderson Elementary staff and students sang "America the Beautiful." The flag used in this special occasion was sent by a student's father who is currently serving in Iraq. The student (pictured below) helped raise the flag.

Red Ribbon Week Canned Food Drive

November 10, 2009 - Anderson Elementary 1st and 4th grader sponsored a canned food drive during Red Ribbon Week using the theme "We CAN Say No To Drugs". The 4th graders made charts and graphs to see which grade brought in the most cans to bring in an educational twist to their fundraising efforts. They learned valuable lessons about helping others and also had fun learning how to update and chart multi-line graphs... always learning here at Charlotte Anderson!
