Intermediate School -- 5th and 6th Grades |
The MISD band program begins at the intermediate school level in the sixth grade where students are enrolled in homogeneous groupings of instruments. These classes focus on the development of correct musical and performance skills. The classes combine on two or more occasions during the year to perform. |

Middle School -- 7th and 8th Grades |
At the middle school level the bands perform several concerts each year. In addition the students enter solo/ensemble and district band events, participate in the District Band Night with the high school marching bands, and compete in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) concert and sight-reading events. Each band participates in a spring festival trip. |

High School -- 9th -12th Grades |

High school band provides the students with their introduction to the marching program. The high school marching bands rehearse outside the school day during the first semester and perform at all football games, invitational marching competitions, and UIL marching contest. |

During the second semester the bands present several concerts, participate in TMEA auditions, compete in solo/ensemble events, and perform at UIL concert and sight reading competition. Additionally, each high school band member is given the opportunity to participate in an overnight trip every year. |

Jazz band is offered as an after school program at the high school level.
Students are auditioned for placement in this group, and they perform several concerts and compete in a variety of festivals. |
