Dyslexia Outreach Coordinator for the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders of
Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children

Ms. Coffman's topic will address the primary and secondary characteristics of dyslexia. The discussion will also include a description of the methods and strategies that have been shown to be effective in treating dyslexia and suggestions on how parents can support their children who struggle to read.
Nancy Coffman has taught learning different students and has overseen the multi sensory structured language (MSL) classes at The Shelton School for 14 years. She has been an Academic Language Therapist trainer at Southern Methodist University. Ms. Coffman holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from The University of the South, a master's degree in special education from Vanderbilt University. Nancy is a Certified Academic Language Therapist and a Qualified Instructor in multi sensory structured language education. She is a member of both the International Dyslexia Association and Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA), is immediate past president of ALTA and current president of the Alliance for Certification and Accreditation. |
