Mansfield ISD is proud to present the 2009 Teachers of the Year.
The 2009 Elementary Teacher of the Year is Sharon Lewis from Mary Jo Sheppard Elementary School. Finalists for Elementary Teacher of the Year were Sharon Lewis - Mary Jo Sheppard Elementary,
Charlene Martin - Carol Holt Elementary, and
Cindy Metcalfe - J.L. Boren Elementary.
The 2009 Secondary Teacher of the Year is Peter Ponce from Summit School. Finalists for Secondary Teacher of Year were Vickie Johnson - Mary Lillard Intermediate,
Peter Ponce - Summit High School, and
Debbie Stevenson - T.A. Howard Middle School.
Teachers of the Year were selected at each school in Mansfield ISD. From those, a committee selected three finalists for elementary and three from the secondary (intermediate, middle and high) schools. The finalists were then interviewed, and a winner was selected from each category. As winners, Sharon Lewis and Peter Ponce will go on to compete in the Region 11 Teacher of Year competition and could potentially go on to compete for Texas Teacher of the Year.
