The temporary delay in construction on Annette Perry Elementary School will soon be over as the District received updated information from the project's bonding company.
On Tuesday, May 26, Liberty Mutual Surety, the bonding company, relayed to Mansfield ISD administrators plans and a tentative timeline for construction to resume on Annette Perry Elementary School. The target date of opening Perry Elementary School is the beginning of January 2010.
“Based on what we heard from the bonding company [Liberty Mutual] we plan to proceed in opening Perry Elementary at Spencer Elementary using a school within a school model,” said Dr. Bob Morrison, incoming Superintendent. “We will then move the students and staff to their new campus in January following the winter break in time to start the second semester.”
Perry Elementary construction timeline*
- Early June 2009 - Construction will resume on the new campus
- Mid October/Early November 2009 - Construction complete
- November/December - final campus preparations before student/staff occupation
- January 2010 - target opening of Annette Perry Elementary School
School Within a School
We will use a “school within a school” model in which Perry Elementary students and staff will hold classes inside Spencer Elementary School. The Spencer Elementary campus currently has adequate space available for this functioning alternative while construction continues on the new school.
Please note: Perry Elementary parents are invited to attend an informational meeting 7:00 PM on June 1, 2009 at Erma Nash Elementary School.
