Top students from Ben Barber CTA will be attending the Business Professionals of America (BPA) 2009 State Leadership Conference, in Austin, Texas, March 4 – 7, 2009.
The student members from the two Ben Barber Career Tech Academy chapters, will join over 2,500 other conference delegates from across the state to participate in state level business skill competitions, general sessions, and the state officer candidate campaigns and elections. Besides having the opportunity to excel, they’ll experience Austin as they visit the city’s exciting sites.
“Students from the Texas Association’s Regional Leadership Conference have qualified to participate at the state level conference. The conference emphasizes business workforce education and training which members of the local chapter of Business Professionals of America at Ben Barber CTA have received,” said chapter advisor, Susan Sevier who teaches computer science classes. The following is a list of the seven students and their qualifying event:
Taylor Cannon (Mansfield) – C++ programming, Software Engineering Team, and Financial Math Open Event
Chris Brubaker (Mansfield) – C++ programming, Software Engineering Team, and Insurance Concepts Open Event
Christy Xavier (Mansfield Summit)– XHTML, and Financial Math Open Event
Erika Ramos (Mansfield) – Fundamentals of Accounting
Kevin Joseph (Mansfield Summit)– Banking and Finance
Andrew Townsend (Mansfield Summit)– Integrated Office Applications
Dontrel Johnson (Mansfield Summit)– Java programming
