At the April 7, 2009 Called Board Meeting, MISD Trustees named three new administrators in preparation for the 2009-2010 academic year. The positions named were Associate Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Assistant Superintendent for Personnel, and Area Superintendent.
Associate Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction
Jim S. Vaszauskas, Ed.D. – Dr. Vaszauskas comes to MISD most recently from the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD where he has been the Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership. Prior to his time at EM-S ISD, Dr. Vaszauskas was a high school Principal, Associate Principal for Curriculum and Instruction, as well as a teacher and coach.
Dr. Vaszauskas has a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University, Master of Arts in Education from Texas Wesleyan University, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Baylor University.
Dr. Vaszauskas will start as the Associate Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction with MISD on Monday, May 4, 2009.
Assistant Superintendent for Personnel
Linda Chance, Ed.D. – Dr. Chance has been the Executive Director Human Resources in the Dallas ISD plus has additional administrative experience in personnel and instruction. Prior to DISD, she was the Associate Superintendent of Personnel/Public Information for Edmond Public Schools in Oklahoma. Other positions include Director of Human Resources, Elementary Principal, Assistant Principal, Middle School Counselor, and Learning Disabilities Teacher.
Dr. Chance is a Doctor of Education in Educational Administration from Oklahoma State University, Master of Education and a Bachelor of Science in Education both from University of Central Oklahoma.
Dr. Chance will start as the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel with MISD on Monday, May 4, 2009
Area Superintendent
Kyle G. Heath – Mr. Heath comes to MISD most recently from Edmond Memorial High School in Edmond Oklahoma where he has been the Principal since June of 2000. During his tenure as Principal, Mr. Heath has overseen significant school accomplishments including:
- Ranked first in State ACT average for 2005 (23.8) State average is 20.4
- Ranked first in State in Annual Performance Index (API) in 2005, 2006, 2008 large school
- 59 National Merit Scholarship Finalists (last six years)
- API of 1453 in 2008—highest in school history
- 23 National Board Certified Teachers
Mr. Heath has a Master in Secondary Administration and Certification in Secondary School Administration from University of Central Oklahoma, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Oklahoma State University.
Kyle Heath will start as one of three Area Superintendents with MISD on July 1, 2009.
