[April 9, 2009]
Soad Ali, a Special-Education Math teacher at Cross Timbers Intermediate School, received the March/April 2009 MISD Heartbeat Team Award. Ms. Ali was chosen for her extraordinary commitment and dedication to the success of her students.
“She shares an enthusiasm for teaching and a passion and love for learning in what she does with her students and her peers,” said Jennifer Meyers. “Her classroom environment, management, and academics are quietly trumpeted by the successes in achievement by her students and their growth as citizens in this world.”
Ms. Ali always goes above and beyond what is expected in order for her students to succeed in math. She can frequently be found spending her lunch and planning periods helping students strengthen their math skills. A nominated form submitted on behalf of Shelby Thayer stated that “She cares so much, that when she sees that a student is struggling with a concept, she stays late or comes early to develop an activity or game that will help the student have that light bulb moment.”
On behalf of MISD, we are proud to present the April 2009 Heartbeat Team Award to Ms. Ali for her patient, enthusiastic and positive dedication to teaching her students at Cross Timbers Intermediate School.
