2010-11 Medical Plan Highlights & Rates
Note: Mansfield ISD contributes $247.70 to each ActiveCare premium. There are some plan changes and rate increases for this plan year.
- When can I enroll or make changes? - Employees have two opportunities to enroll or make changes (April 19 – May 21 and August 1 – August 31, 2010). Any changes made during either enrollment period will be effective September 1, 2010.
- How do I enroll or make changes? - Go to www.mansfieldisdbenefits.com and follow the login instructions.
- Do I have to complete a new online application? - Only employees making changes to their plan or declining coverage are required to complete a new online application.
- If no changes are being made, you will automatically be enrolled in the same plan elected for 2009-10 at the same level of coverage. Premiums will be adjusted to reflect the new rate on the September 28 paycheck. New rate changes can be found here.
- If you are continuing to decline, complete a TRS Declination form and return it to Benefits. Declinations must be completed EACH year for any employee/dependents waiving medical coverage.
- If you had medical insurance last year and wish to drop medical for 2010-11, go online and Waive coverage then complete the TRS Declination form and return it to Benefits. (Any employee declining medical coverage this year will automatically be enrolled in the Hospital Indemnity Plan, at no cost to the employee. You need to complete the HIP Beneficiary sheet. Please call Benefits for details.)
- What happens if I miss the medical enrollment period? - No changes will be allowed except during the two noted open enrollment periods unless you experience a Special Enrollment Event. See Enrollment Guide at www.trs.state.tx.us/trs-activecare for additional information regarding benefits.
- What other information should I know? -
- The TRS plan year is September 1, 2010 through August 31, 2011. Any deductible and out-of-pocket expenses will start over September 1, 2010.
- There are no HMO plans in our area. Disregard information on any of the HMO plans when reading your TRS Enrollment Guide.
- Name changes need to be turned in to Human Resources.
- Other options are available to a husband and wife who both work for a participating entity. Please contact Michelle Fry in the Benefits Department for more information.
- Take a look at the 2010-11 Enrollment Presentation for even more information.
- TO ALL EMPLOYEES: Effective Immediately - Social Security numbers are required. A new Mandatory Insurer Reporting Law now requires Social Security numbers for all covered dependents that are enrolled in ANY insurance plan. During our Spring Enrollment, please log in to www.mansfieldisdbenefits.com and add the missing social security numbers. (This includes spouses/dependents covered on any supplemental policy.) Coverages are at risk of being cancelled if this information is not supplied.
- This enrollment is for MEDICAL ONLY. You cannot make changes to any supplemental policy that you currently have now.

Yearly Open Enrollment Periods:
Medical (TRS-ActiveCare/Blue Cross Blue Shield)
There is a Spring and a Fall Open Enrollment period for the Medical (BCBS) coverage. Any changes during either of these periods will be effective September 1st. Please watch your Groupwise and/or the MISD website for the dates as they vary a little year to year).
Supplementals Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment is in October every year. Please watch your Groupwise and/or the MISD website for the dates as it varies a little year to year.

| Workers' Compensation Information: |
Along with a new school year we are proud to present you with a new Worker's Compensation Program effective SEPTEMBER 1, 2009 (new carrier, enhanced network of doctors, etc.).
Each employee MUST go to the following link and read or familiarize themselves with the nine pages, PRINT AND SIGN page nine AND RETURN IT TO THEIR SECRETARY. The campus and department secretaries will collect these, account for their campus/department and return them to the Benefits Department for our SAFE KEEPING.
As always we hope that SAFETY will play a big part in your job. If you have any SAFETY CONCERNS please feel free to contact Shelley Trammell in the Risk Management Department.
